IOTA for the Future: Volkswagen Announces Collaboration with IOTA

At the Connected World conference, Volkswagen announced its Berlin-based crypto partnership with IOTA. The main reason for the move is the possibility that the future of smart vehicles may be a decentralized technology.

German-based Bosch, a multinational engineering and electronics company, announced that it accepted IOTA for its autonomous cars project and is considering investing in crypto in mid-December. Then Volkswagen took action to be a part of this business.

It all started with the election of Volkswagen’s CDO to IOTA’s supervisory board in January.. Johann Jungwirth has served as Volkswagen AG’s Head of Digitization Strategy since November 1, 2015. Jungwirth was a Mac Systems Engineer at Apple in 2014.. He was responsible for innovation to grow in product design and engineering, manage a multicultural research and development team, and support the Special Projects group. Being part of the supervisory board has led Jungwirth to take action on the foundation’s annual roadmap and initiate collaboration between Volkswagen and IOTA.

At the Bosch Connected World Conference, CDO demonstrated the level of free technology’s potential.

Contrary to traditional blockchain solutions, IOTA is based on a system with numerous non-blocking endpoints, which is particularly beneficial in the field of “Internet Of Things”.. Transactions are validated upon confirmation of other transfers.. Therefore, for a transaction to be valid, it needs to verify two more transactions.

The network described above allows transactions to be confirmed and released in a short time.. It works offline and guarantees quantum security.

The much-talked about New Connected Cars systems may find the IOTA platform very useful in practice for securing the distribution of IOTA updates.. In addition, as Jungwith explained above, a use for MaaS solutions could be considered.

The much-anticipated IOTA Foundation is working with Taipei to incorporate blockchain technology into its ID cards plans.. Wei-bin Lee – Member of the Information Technology Commission reports that he has formed a team from IOTA and Biilabs for a project on Digital Citizen Cards.

These developments could be the start of a very promising technology validated by the crypto-ecosystem. ; this technology is slowly but strongly establishing its place in practice.
