Bitcoin call from the European Central Bank to G20 countries

Benoit Coeure, board member of the European Central Bank, urged G20 countries to discuss ways to regulate Bitcoin at the upcoming meeting. Coeure also said that digital currencies can be a good force, pushing countries to upgrade their payment systems.

Speaking at a panel at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Coeure said: I will wait for a discussion.” blockquote class=”blockquote-style-1 position-center text-left width-100″>

“We need better cross-border payments because it’s good for development and financial inclusion. So Bitcoin can help us, serve us by forcing our system to upgrade. This is a positive lesson.”

United Kingdom Prime Minister Theresa May also gave an interview to Bloomberg in Davos yesterday and stated that she is considering focusing meticulously on Bitcoin because of her concerns that it is being used by criminals.. Digital currencies can buy anything from drugs to a cupcake and are seen as having the potential to reshape the global system.
